4 Top Tactics to Teach Children How to Play Guitar

When you have a child who shoes interest in learning to play the guitar you want them to have this keenest rewarded with early success. I notice that children need more variation of the usual guitar lessons with their guitar lessons. At the same time this is good because the children will be having the freedom to our house and not spending so much time in a classroom.

So, with all this in mind here is a list of what I believe will help get your children off to a great start in guitar lessons.

Again, I noticed that with children guitar lessons can be very off putting. You will often find that children quickly lose interest once they have accepted the basic guitar lessons. So again I recommend a combination of Group and Private Lessons.

Guitar Chord Explained:Now when you have got your basic guitar lessons under your belt, you obviously need to learn how to play the chords. I recommend a simple approach to this first. You know that often times songs are played in different tunings and that different guitars give different sounds. For now, this is all you need to know. So, you go out and grab the sheet music or chord chart for your guitar lessons and look at it. You will notice that sometimes if you need to tune your guitar, you will need a little bit of information out of this chart. You may notice that sometimes the standard tuning for your guitar is already in the sheet music or chord chart. You don’t need an extra harmonic from this point on to tune your guitar.

Time to Start Tuning:You should start with your open strings. Starting with your standard guitar tuning, you should tune the 1st string to E on the fifth fret and the 2nd string to E on the seventh fret. You should do this for each string on your guitar. You should repeat this up the neck and across the strings. You should repeat this for about 15 minutes.

Tuning the Guitar with harmonics:You should notice on your guitar that the 6th and 7th frets are two different frets and you should use the harmonics at these two positions to tune the guitar. We’ll start at the sixth fret commonly known as the sixth string and go up to the 7th fret.

Call out the notes using your left pinky or ring finger:You should place your left pinky or ring finger on either the 6th or 7th fret. I usually recommend that students starting off with this method place their middle finger on the 5th fret.

Strum all the frets:You should play each fret on the guitar by strumming the strings and not pressing down on the frets.

Using your ear:You should listen to the pitch of each note and make sure that it is being played clearly and not by any buzzing.

Play a note:You should notice on your guitar that there are a lot of strings that are open but you should press the strings down on the frets. Teach Children How to Play Guitar Teach Children How to Play Guitar

Now you should be able to play notes across the guitar fret board. Remember to use your little finger to hold down the frets. You can now move forward from this point.

Learn the chords:You should have some idea of the basic chords that you need to learn. From this point forward you can concentrate on learning the different variations. Teach Children How to Play Guitar Teach Children How to Play Guitar

Chord progression:This is an advanced technique that will help you change the sound of the song. You can skip the chords and play a progression. What you should do is practice the progression you learned with the chords.

You should be able to play the progression with one chord group and then proceed to another group. What you should do is practice switching between these chord groups and how much time you need to spend on these changes. When you get the sound you want you can then add in different groups of chords.

Use variations:You should practice variations of the chords you learn by playing them one by oneTeach Children How to Play GuitarTeach Children How to Play Guitar.

Repetition:You should do this initially slowly. You should play the progression 3 or 4 times correctly and then you can try playing it more often and increasing the speed.
